Stacy Hahn

Stacy Hahn, Ph.D. is a lifelong educator, community leader, and proven public servant who has represented Hillsborough County residents as an elected School Board member since 2018. She served on the Hillsborough County School Board—the 7th largest school district in the nation, overseeing a $4.2 billion budget, and governing the largest employer in Hillsborough County, with a focus on financial transparency, efficiency, and taxpayer accountability. With more than three decades of experience spanning education, workforce development, public policy, and nonprofit leadership, Stacy brings a deep understanding of how strong governance, fiscal oversight, and strategic partnerships improve quality of life for families and neighborhoods across our county.
As a Republican, Stacy believes government works best when it is fiscally responsible, transparent, and accountable to the taxpayers it serves.

Throughout her career, Stacy has served at every level of the K–20 continuum, including as a school board member, university professor, public school teacher, student advocate, grant facilitator, and educational researcher. This breadth of experience has shaped her practical, solutions-driven approach to leadership—focused on accountability, access, and measurable outcomes.
As an elected official, Stacy has been a strong advocate for early childhood education, literacy, workforce and career pathways, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. She has helped advance initiatives centered on fiscal transparency, operational accountability, STEM education, multiple pathways to graduation, and meaningful community partnerships. Her work has also emphasized early intervention, food security, exceptional student education services, mental health supports, wraparound health services, community schools, and professional development—investments that strengthen families and communities beyond the classroom.

In addition to her governance role, Stacy has led and launched countywide literacy and STEM initiatives, including the Early Childhood Literacy Fair, Storytime Online, Authors Chat Book Club, the Hahn Holiday Book Tour Giveaway, and the Early Childhood Literacy Bus—a mobile initiative that brings books, family resources, and early learning support directly into neighborhoods across Hillsborough County. She partnered with community organizations to create STREAM events integrating science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math, as well as a STEM-focused Spring Break Camp. Stacy also serves as President of Literacy Is Key, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving literacy and school readiness for children throughout Hillsborough County.

Before her election, Stacy served as Director of Professional Development and Partnerships for the University of South Florida College of Education and as Associate Director of the USF–David C. Anchin Center. As a faculty member in USF’s College of Education, she taught undergraduate and graduate courses preparing future educators, coordinated the special education undergraduate program, and began her career as a public-school teacher at the elementary and middle school levels in Florida.

Stacy has served on boards that strengthen Hillsborough County’s cultural, educational, and civic institutions, including ZooTampa, the Tampa Museum of Art, the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, the Hillsborough Education Foundation, the Florida School Boards Association, the Hillsborough County Value Adjustment Board, and Junior Achievement. She is also a member of the MacDill Council for Educational Excellence and authored policy supporting educational stability for military-connected students and families.

Stacy earned a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Special Education and Research from the University of Florida. She has published professional research and presented at national and international conferences. Her commitment to service is grounded in a belief that strong communities are built through collaboration, transparency, and long-term planning.

Stacy lives in Tampa with her husband, Jeff Hahn, their three children—Ethan, Jackson, and Aidan—and their dog, Rocky. The Hahn family are active members of Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoys supporting local events, gardening, and participating in community book clubs.
